Police Records Management System (RMS) - Supervisor/Administrator Training

Audience
The purpose of this course is to prepare the supervisor/administrator to support the implementation of the RMS system. The supervisor/administrator is the person responsible for system design, system support, and system configuration. Up to 10 supervisors/administrators can be trained per session.

Course Description
This instructor led course follows the logical sequence of events that must be performed in order to successfully implement the RMS system. The instructor works with the supervisor/administrator to configure the system based upon the individual response agencies needs. The course is presented over 2 days, 8 hours per day. It is broken down in the following manner:

1 Day - Introduction, Operations and Maintenance
1 Day - Ad-Hoc Reporting, System Set-Ups, and System Functionality

The topics covered during the course include:
  • Hardware Configuration
  • Operating System Overview
  • System Operations Administration
  • Database Development
  • System Interfaces
  • The User Interface

Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, the supervisor/administrator will be able to:

  • Define the hardware and software components of the RMS system.
  • Define the system interfaces and explain how they are used.
  • Perform routine maintenance functions.
  • Develop site specific data needed to implement the system.
  • Define the various aspects of the user interface.

Media
This is an instructor-led course that provides significant "hands-on" experience with the RMS system.

Equipment Required
The actual RMS system that has been purchased by the customer will be used during the training process. Up to 2 students will use each RMS position during training.

Prerequisites
Basic personal computer and mouse skills, as well as an understanding of Microsoft Windows is required.
